Disney Pins Art Tips

My personal favorite frame size is the 11"x14" standard. It gives you lots of versatility and a good size boarder to mount your pins on. From as few as 3 pins on our "Fire Department" set, to as many as 20 pins on our "Disneyland 98" set. 10 pins give you a really nice balance with the 11"x14" frame, as you can see in our Villains and Flag set.

With this combination you will have to cut the mats yourself, or have them cut to size at your local crafts/frame shop.

We use a Logan Compact Mat Cutter 301, which makes cutting mats a snap. You just set your boarder width, insert your mat under the spring-loaded-hold-down and slide the cutter along the guide. The mat cutter with board cost anywhere from $70-$110.

Would you like to make some beautiful framed Disney pin sets without the need for a mat cutter?

You can download our templates, print them, cut them out with scissors, insert your pin, and mount it in a frame. Easy as ABC.

What color mat should I use?
There are no hard and fast rules on picking the color of mat. The general rule of thumb is to pick a color that will accent your picture. If you like, You can pick your favorite color or a color that will go with your decorating scheme.

Where can I get pictures?
Books, cards, magazines, catalogs, calendars, post cards, etc.

How do I mount the Disney pins?
You can cut a backing out of foam board and push the pins through the mat and into the foam board. Sometimes the foam board sticks out the back a little further than the frame, I don't worry about it because nobody sees the back.

Experiment!
Just have fun with it! If you don't like what you created, you can always pull the pins out and start over.

If you want your Disney pin art to last a lifetime, use acid-free materials, tape, foam board, mat board, etc.
